Why metal roofing demands a high-performance underlayment

Metal roofing panels absorb and conduct heat far more efficiently than asphalt shingles. On a hot summer day, the underside of a metal panel can exceed 200°F. A standard spun-bonded polypropylene underlayment may soften, wrinkle, or bond to the deck under these temperatures — compromising both the moisture barrier and future serviceability.

Arkint Armour uses a coated woven polyolefin construction that maintains dimensional stability across a wide temperature range. The non-perforated, continuous barrier sheds condensation from metal panels while allowing the roof assembly to breathe as specified by the metal roofing manufacturer.
